How It Started

Death by Hair: A Fresh Start was born from both passion and personal experience. As a hairstylist, I’ve seen firsthand the power of a haircut—it’s never just about hair. For many women, especially those going through life transitions, a fresh style can represent hope, dignity, and a chance to start again.

And honestly—like every great idea—it started the way most world-changing plans do: two women talking in a salon chair. While I was working on her hair, she shared about the nonprofit board she served on and the housing project helping women in transitional living. The more she talked, the more I thought: what if I used my gift to give these women a fresh haircut—a reset they could actually see in the mirror?

But my brain didn’t stop there. I wanted to go bigger. Why not also give them the tools and supplies they’d need to keep their hair healthy, to look in the mirror every day and feel that same confidence boost?

That’s where Death by Hair: A Fresh Start was born—rooted in compassion, fueled by connection, and yes, sparked by a little salon-chair magic. Because Death by Hair a fresh start is not just about a fresh haircut or a bag of supplies—it’s about encouragement, love, and pouring into these women so they can rebuild their lives into what they want them to be.

As this journey grows, I plan to stand beside these women in many more ways, giving them the confidence to step into their next chapter while seeing just how far this vision can take me and our board.
